Unblogged

Before the big First Birthday post- a few more unblogged photos:
I think that the DS will keep him occupied on the flight. He would sit like this all day if we let him! My 2 best friends from growing up- Natalie and Lindy at Lindy's bridal shower. A lot of fun times!

My Brother in Law's wife makes these cute little bonnets, and my mother in law picked some up for the little East Coast girls. How cute is she???

Nate's birthday celebration

This was the first time Nate has been at school on his birthday, so I thought that I'd try to make things special for him when he got home. We decorated the house a little bit. And had balloons waiting for him outside.

That night we headed to Chuck E Cheese. I asked him over and over if he wanted to have friends come for a party, but he finally said he just wanted it to be his family. So his other desire was to go to CEC, so that's what we did. We invited the family to come- and Grammy and Grandad, Aunt Cammi and cousin Meckenzie all came to join us. Nate had a great time!

Olivia even kept her party hat on for a little while!

Don't be jealous of my stellar cake decorating skillz. I was a bit rushed getting things together.

We got Nate a Nintendo DS for his birthday, for 2 reasons- First I'm tired of having a million toys in my house, and second, we are about to embark on a trip across country, and I wanted something that would keep him totally quiet and occupied for the entire flight out and back. :)

Olivia's favorite part of the evening was how willing everyone was to feed her cake!

So now my baby is 6! How does that happen? And he'll be in First grade this fall. I'm just in denial all across the board!

Happy Birthday Nate!

(Nothing like 6 pancakes and a cupcake for breakfast!)

The End

When I was one,

I had just begun.

When I was two,

I was nearly new.

When I was three,

I was hardly me.

When I was four,

I was not much more.

When I was five,

I was just alive.

But now I am six,

I'm as clever as clever,

So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.

Field Day

Now that Nate is in Kindergarten, he got to have his first Field Day at school. I loaded up the kids and went over to watch for a bit. Nate couldn't have cared less that we were there. :) He had lots of fun playing all day long though.
A relay to fill a can with water using sponges. After the relay the girls running the station sprayed all of the kids with the hose. Can you see Nate and his friend Jackson? I'll give you a hint- they're not with the rest of the class. If you guessed the two little boys on the far right of the picture, you are correct!

He did finally get wet with the duck duck goose sponge game.

And you may be able to pick out Graham in this picture. He had a minute when he got to run around with Nate's class, and loved feeling like a big kid!

After lunch we headed home, and let Nate enjoy the rest of his day in peace.

The Nose Story

OK, so one night back in May, I was busily trying to get the kids ready to go. We were meeting Grammy and Grandad for dinner, and then they were going to come back to the house and watch the kids while Jesse and I went to a White Lies concert. Shortly before it was time to go, Graham and Nate had the shortest of altercations which ended with Graham slamming his nose onto the TV stand. I checked it out, it was bleeding, so I put a band aid on it, which was more upsetting to him than actually hitting it, and then I went upstairs to feed Olivia so that we could go.
By the time I got back downstairs, about 20 min later, Graham was still crying quite loudly, and his nose had swollen to about twice it's normal size. So my first thought was that it was broken. But, being the good mom that I am, I loaded up all of the kids to go and get dinner first. On the car ride over there, Graham was still crying, and saying "owie" over and over again. So I thought, well, if he doesn't stop crying, then we'll go to the ER. But I told him that if he wanted to go to dinner with Grammy and Grandad, that he would have to stop crying, and he did pretty well, and was even happy once everyone was there.
So then, once again, because I am such an awesome mom, Jesse and I head down to DC for the concert. I figured he wasn't crying anymore, and I did give him some Motrin before we left. Plus, it was bed time anyway. The next morning, the swelling had not gone down at all, and after a call to the Pediatrician, we headed over to the ER. Graham was actually pretty happy while we were there, which was nice.

And even though everyone who looked at it thought it was broken, after an xray, it was determined that it was not actually broken. So we didn't have to do anything about it.

He did get a nice shiner out of it though!

When your bed looks like this...

When your bed looks like this.... You have to sleep down here. Actually, I don't think that Nate has slept in his bed for about 2 months. He prefers to sleep on a pile of stuffed animals in the corner.

Unblogged

Well, I think I may start blogging again. It's only been 2 months after all. Here are just a few randoms to start you out. (Or as most of you will be reading this, to finish you off.)
Olivia's first sunburn. Poor tiny girl. Playing in the rain.

We probably ought to get some new chairs around here if we've taken to sitting in boxes.

Mmmmmmm... spaghetti face!

And a blue m&m face. :)
