Smiling Pictures

Well, things have been pretty boring around here. We just are sitting around playing all the time. On Sunday we are going to bless Graham, and that starts a busy month for us. Just a lot of different little things going on. So I am just going to post a bunch of pictures today. I think I finally got some good ones of Graham smiling.

This is Nate's new favorite way to sit in the stroller

And just for fun, here is one of Lizzie.

Snow Day

So yesterday we had some snow here. The first snow of the season came while I was in the hospital with Graham, so this is the first time that I have had an opportunity to play outside with Nate. I was not sure how he would react to the snow this year.

Last year we had the whole snow get up, expensive matching snow suit, boots, etc. Nate was not so fond of being out in the snow. He would not walk in it, and he did not want to play in it. He really wanted nothing to do with it other than to look at it from a safe distance. Of course, in his defense he was only a year and half old, and you know, the snowsuit and boots made it awfully difficult to move under the best circumstances, much less in 4 inches of snow. You have to click on the picture to get a good look at the face he is making.

So this year we still have the expensive snow suit (although I was smart last year and got it in February for $10) and we have the boots that light up, and fancy gloves that are waterproof. I took him outside yesterday while it was snowing, and he didn't like that too much, but his face was getting wet and cold. Today it took him a little while, but he finally decided that it would be ok to touch the snow.

After he touched the snow and he didn't melt, he decided that it was an ok thing to play with, and eventually had a great time. He enjoyed picking up a tiny amount of snow "a snowball" and throwing it all over the place, including but not limited to my shoes and pants. He also enjoyed washing the window with the snow.

We also made a tiny snowman. Well, ok, I made the snowman, Nate was not so interested in the snowman. He has a huge smile.

And finally here is Graham. He has more and more cute pictures these days. I had one with a smile, but well, he looked really funny aside from the smile. Anyway, that is it. I just had to throw one of him in so he would not feel left out. But he's crying now, so I'd better wrap this up.

Nate's new "band-aid"

So Nate has gotten to the age when he wants a kiss to feel better when he hurts himself. He went through a phase last summer when he needed to have a bandaid all the time. He now has a new thing that makes him feel better, and it's all my fault. Yesterday he hurt his hand, he closed his potty on it, and pinched some skin. (No- he's not even close to being potty trained.) So I had Graham crying as well, and I needed to feed him, but Nate was still feeling bad about his hand, and this actually hurt, so a kiss was not going to make it better. So as a peace offering I gave him some chocolate, and I made the mistake of asking if it would make him feel better. So now whenever he gets hurt he asks in his tear-filled voice for some chocolate to make him feel better. Oh my, what have I started?

A Random Second Post

Well, since this is really my first real post, I am just going to lump a bunch of things together. First of all, we had a really nice Holiday this year. We stayed local. On Christmas Eve we had dinner with Jesse's family, his brother Luke was in town with his wife Lauren (aka, the other Lauren, or Lauren #2, or Lauren E.)

Christmas morning we spent at our house. Nate was excited about his presents, and it didn't take too much goading to get him to open his presents. He seemed to like things, and he plays with all of his new toys. None as much as his new Cars action figures. He loves Doc Hudson, and Sheriff, and rarely goes anywhere without them. More about them later though.

Nate's big present this year came from Grammy and Grandad Markham. He got a train table, and now he can finally fit in with all of his friends. I think he may be the last one of the boys in the play group to get a train table. We went with the one from Costco, and I am very pleased with it. Plus, Nate loves it. Always a bonus. He doesn't really play with much else when we are downstairs.
So I promised more about Cars. Cars is his absolute favorite movie, and if he had his way, it would be on all day every day. As it is, it is on too much, but often it allows me to take a shower in the morning. He often walks around quoting lines from the movie. Anyway, we met our new hometeachers last night, and one of them is a County Sheriff. He had driven to our house in his Sheriff's car, and at the end of the appointment, Nate got to go out and look at the car. He loved it. However, when he came back inside, he picked up his Doc Hudson car, and said that he wanted Doc Hudson to be outside. He thought we were just picking characters to come to life outside of our house. It was pretty funny.

So the next random thing on the list is the most exciting thing that happened this weekend. We got a railing for out steps down to the basement. Nate used to love to sit at the top of the steps where there is no longer a wall, and he would lean over to look at things downstairs. It made me cringe every time I saw it. Now I no longer have to worry. Thank you Theresa the landlady for getting that fixed!

And finally, here is the first picture of Graham that I have been able to take of him smiling. There was one other, but his face looked too fat, so this one will have to do for the post. Anyway, it's just in here, because he's so cute.
So that's it. Our little family. I'll keep on posting, and I'll put in pictures as often as I can bring myself to spend the time in the cold basement. (At least when Graham will let me spend time on the computer.)

Welcome to our new blog

Hi there friends and family.
This is our new family website blog. It will be a little more specific than our individual blogs, and we will also post photos and things like that on this blog. We will continue to post most of our photos on our regluar website jesseandlauren.com but will have this as a supplement.
For those of you who have not been in contact with us for a while, here is a bit about us.
I am Lauren, and I'll be doing most of the posting. I stay home with our two kids, Nate, 2 1/2 and Graham, just a month old. Jesse is my husband and he works as an IT specialist. We met at BYU, and got married in 2003. We live in Maryland currently, and actually live quite boring lives right now. Life is mostly just sitting home adjusting to have a second child.
So I'll try to keep this interesting, but we'll see if that's possible. If you are really up for a boring time, you can check out the random thoughts of my life, at losingmyneedles.blogspot.com. So that's it. Happy reading.
